Celebrating International Women's Day
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on how far we’ve come in the grand project of gender equality and women’s rights, plus—especially this year—a time to double down on our activism and support of the activists among us. Women’s equality—and we mean all women, not just cis--can’t be taken for granted, as we see all around us. This year women (along with anyone who was born with a uterus and ovaries) are in the crosshairs when it comes to reproductive justice, even many of us who are past our reproductive decades, since seeing the clock tick backwards can bring up fear and trauma. Equally shocking is the culture war targeting trans women (trans men and non-binary folk too, but our trans sisters are bearing the brunt of the hate).
In both of these live-wire struggles, BIPoC and poor women are at even greater risk. We literally cannot separate our feminism from our support for the trans community and our anti-racist and economic justice work. That’s happened in the past—but it should be front and center to ensure it will never happen in the future.
Good Vibes and our sibling company Babeland have spent our entire histories seeking to support women: in our search for pleasure, for embodied empowerment, and for access to pleasure products that reflect our need and our vision for ourselves. We’ve sought out quality toys, gender expression gear, and sexual health products to help anyone whose journey incorporates those things, plus education and information to back it all up.
But in times like these, more needs to be done; Good Vibes through our GiVe program and Babeland via its Come for a Cause community support project both aggregate customer’s donations and send 100% of the proceeds to organizations who are doing crucial work. We are currently supporting the National Network of Abortion Funds, and most recently supported the Transgender Law Center, survivors of sexual trauma, sex worker rights, anti-racist community work, food banks, and more. We’ve also been offering Julie Mollo’s fantastic limited-edition Uterus Clutch--with each fierce clutch sold, we send a portion of proceeds to the National Network of Abortion Funds.
Please keep fundraising, standing up and speaking out, holding officials accountable, and taking all the daily actions that pave the way to a gender-inclusive, anti-racist, and sex-positive feminist future.
