Butt Plugs
Butt plugs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and usually have a small tapered neck that expands to a flared base. Once the anal muscles close around the neck, the base keeps the plug snuggly fitted inside your body without slipping in. Unlike dildos, which are meant for thrusting in and out, diamond-shaped plugs are meant to remain stationary inside the rectum.

Butt plug sizes range from about the size of a pinky finger to a fist and are available in vinyl, jelly rubber, silicone, and metal (although due to the weight and density we don’t recommend metal plugs for beginners). If you enjoy a feeling of fullness in the anus, but don’t want a lot of movement, then butt plugs are the toy for you.

Anal Beads
Anal beads are exactly what they sound like -- a series of beads that are either strung together on a cord or attached to a plastic or silicone stem and inserted into the anus. They stimulate the anal opening as is opens and closes around each beady. For some people, this feeling alone can induce orgasm, and for others, the removal of beads during orgasm acts as a great intensifier.

It is important to note however, that plastic anal beads often have a few sharp seams that will need to be filed down before they are safe for use.

Dildos
Dildos are wonderful, whether you are using them with a harness or on their own. If thrusting gets your juices flowing, then a dildo is the toy for you. Dildos are also great because you or your partner get to control the speed, angle, and motion while you play. They are available in a wide variety of sizes, materials, textures, and colors, so you have a LOT of choices.

If you are planning to use your dildo in a harness, make sure it is at least six inches long and has a flared base for the harness ring to grip. Many dildos have ridges or bumps which make them great for G-spot and vaginal play, but they may be too rough for anal play, so try something smoother.

Anal Vibrators
Vibrations can feel wonderful on almost any part of your body and your butt is no exception. The area around your anal opening is extremely sensitive due to all those excitable nerve endings, and vibrations can act as a wonderful intensifier alongside butt plugs, dildos, oral sex, masturbation or on their own.

Prostate Stimulators
Prostate toys are specifically designed with men’s prostates, in mind. That means the toys are fitted with a curve that will apply pressure, located about 2-3 inches into the rectum. The good news is that G-spot and prostate stimulators work pretty much the same way and are good for finding both sweet spots. In fact, some women can achieve G-spot stimulation anally with these toys as well.
